A few weeks ago I remember seeing a post on Introducing r/CryptoCurrency Moons but at the time didn’t think too much of it or take the time to learn more. Thankfully I did recently!
I don’t use reddit very much these days but it was a key resource for me learning about Crypto a while back and amassed a healthy little collection of “Karma” for my comments. For those who don’t know reddit, it’s basically a forum where you can “Upvote” and “Downvote” comments that contribute to the topic at hand.
I kept ignoring it until I found out they actually Back-dated rewards (I’m not sure on the exact period)based on comments, Moons had my curiosity but now it had my attention so I headed over to the Reddit App Vault and claimed my “Moons”. I’m honestly not even sure on the ratio of moons per reddit comment or upvote but I got a few thousand moons.
The process was simple enough, install the Reddit app go to the vault and Generate a blockchain wallet.
Up until this point I really didn’t think they had any value outside a few cents and was really just going this for a bit of fun. I then came across https://moon.nano.trade/ and discovered the ratio was 0.062: 1 Nano!

Certainly that couldn’t be accurate?
That would put 1000 Moons at a value around 62 Nano, at the time of my Transfer approx 80c per Nano or $50 worth for every 1000 Moons!
I jumped on this quick smart and sent about 50% of my Moons over using the above exchange and traded them for Nano. The first step was creating a Nano wallet, For this I used https://nanovault.io/ .
Once you initiate the exchange you enter your Nano address and then send in your Moons. About 15mins later the Nano appeared in my wallet!
For the next part I booked a room using Travala.com A Crypto Friendly hotel booking site with 30+ coins, credit card and other payments supported. For this I chose Nano so I could browse my hotels in Nano and choose one that fit my Nano Budget.
Once I selected my room and date, the rest was pretty simple. Select Nano, complete the guest checkout detail and send my Nano to the payment address. A few moments later I got my confirmation details in the booking portal and my email. (Nano is fast!!)
Simple as pie! I’ll also get some AVA after the trip back as a reward points. Something else that’s cool is Travala.com allows for partial payment so if you wish to repeat this process and don’t have quite enough Nano you could always either buy more Nano or buy some AVA and then use 60% Nano, 40% AVA etc. Or I can use my AVA i’ve earned from this trip Giveback + My Credit Card to make another booking in the future cheaper.
For those in the Travala Telegram the bot also drops a message each time someone made a booking and I saw my booking appear right after a Link and LTC Booking.
